Obituary for Fred White

Fred White, 80, of Greenville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, while surrounded by his loved ones, after an extended illness.

He was born in Westford (Crawford County), PA on April 30, 1938, to the late Howard and Vergie (Griffin) White.

Fred was a 1956 graduate of Jamestown High School and served in the 101st Airborne of the US Army from 1958-1960.

He worked for the Borough of Greenville Streets Department for 25 years, and also owned his own business, Fred White & Sons Construction. He enjoyed construction work immensely, and bought, remodeled, and sold many homes in the Greenville area. He also owned many rental properties in the area.

Fred was an active member of Greenville Christian Assembly Church, where he served as a trustee and an usher.

He is survived by his wife at home, Mary (Marini) White. They were married on June 18, 1960. Also surviving are: two sons, Lenny White and his wife, Mary, and Mark White and his wife, Devonne, all of Greenville; a daughter, Candace Tarr and her husband, Sean, of Greenville; six grandchildren, Chris White, Michelle White, Josh White, Jeremy White, Kyrstin Devine and her husband, Donnie, and Kalab Tarr and his wife, Alaura; five great-grandchildren, Tanner White, Brooklynn White, Lucas White, Bridger Devine, and Ezekiel Tarr; a sister, Joy Fry and her husband, Charles, of Greenville; a brother, Ralph White of Jamestown; and a sister-in-law, Beverly White of Jamestown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Harold White, and James White; and two sisters, Loretta Schiliaci, and Virginia Catherine Hainer.

A memorial service will be held at Christian Assembly Church, 111 Main St., Greenville, at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 22, 2019, with Rev. Joel DiAngi, officiating.

Burial will be private, with a committal prayer by Rev. Joel DiAngi, and military honors by the Greenville American Legion Honor Guard, at America's Cemetery in Hermitage.
